Special Interest Areas

While the treatment concerns or populations listed below isn't a full picture of all that she can treat or work with, they are her greatest interests. Brittany Attwood has specialized, extensive training and experience in utilizing these evidence based modalities and working with these special populations.

EMDR is a specialization that requires several hours of training and practice for a clinician. It is "an extensively researched and highly effective therapeutic protocol to help people heal and recover after trauma or other distressing experiences including [but not limited to] anxiety, depression, PTSD, and/or panic disorders." *

Check out this video from the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) to learn more about how EMDR can help here

Along with basic EMDR, I am specialty trained to work with EMDR for those with Chronic Pain/Chronic Illness, those with migraines, and other autoimmune conditions. With my hours of focused training in this area, together we can improve your physical pain as a result of chronic illness/chronic pain, trauma, or injury.

Chronic Illness has a way of flowing into every area of our life from our relationships, to our roles, to our daily activities. Find support and understanding from a highly trained professional, who utilizes a person-centered approach, as you adjust, grieve, and ultimately find your way to feeling empowered in your body again.

I look to a child's natural way of learning and growing, using play/ play therapy and trauma informed approaches like TF-CBT, to address issues that might otherwise be hard for a child to sit and discuss. After years of working inside schools, and specifically with neurodivergent populations, I am passionate about supporting children and their families as they discover healing.

Is it Just this List? What About Other Concerns/Issues?

Often times potential clients believe the misconception that a therapist's specialties are the only mental health issues/concerns they work with--that is often not be the case! A therapist's specialty should be a very limited list because they pursue extensive training, and have even more extended expertise, in those areas.

But a therapist without work in areas outside of their specialties would not be great therapist! This is because often client's are struggling with more than one issue--say anxiety and depression for example. This is why our therapist also works with plenty of other issues regularly (see "additional concerns worked with" section above) that don't fall into her specialties of: various types of trauma, EMDR, or types of chronic illness!

Maybe what are looking for is support with work stress, relational conflicts, or something else entirely. Don't fret! Brittany is happy to work with you to address your specific concerns with her training and knowledge. Just reach out and Brittany will let you know if she is or is not a great fit for your needs.
